Michael Sheridan was the main screenwriter and co-producer of the Sky Pictures/Irish Film Board feature film When the Sky Falls, the story of the life and death of assassinated Irish crime reporter Veronica Guerin. He wrote and directed Neil Jordan: A Profile broadcast by RTE and WNET. He was a storyline consultant on the documentary Sinatra and the Jack Pack produced by David Harvey, and broadcast on one of the biggest cable channels in the US. He is working as a consultant on a five-part series for Sky, Murder at the Cottage: The Search for Justice for Sophie, directed by Jim Sheridan and produced by Donal McIntyre.

He adapted and directed a musical version of his best-selling Victorian true crime book Murder at Shandy Hall, which was a sell-out production at the Cork Opera House.

In addition, he is Ireland’s most successful non-fiction author with combined sales of over 700,000 copies. He has been writing on the Sophie Toscan Du Plantier case as a journalist and author for seventeen years and his book published in 2002 on the subject, Death in December was a best seller. He was co-author and ghost-writer of the story of the Magdalen Laundry survivor Kathy O Beirne, Don’t Ever Tell which spent 22 weeks in the UK’s top ten and was an international hit published in twenty countries. Among his other best-selling books are Murder at Shandy Hall, Frozen Blood and Sinatra and The Jack Pack.

His second book on the Du Plantier case, The Murder of Sophie: How I Hunted and Haunted the West Cork Killer was researched and written with the exclusive and full backing and co-operation of the victim’s family, the chief murder investigator and many witnesses.
